Develop Your Voice
Ann Carroll Bundy believes that every person has the ability to express their voice through the art of flute playing. The families in her studio describe Ann as having “positive energy” and her teaching style as “creative.” Ann is known to “kindle a love of the flute.” She founded the Serenade School of Flute located in Maynard, Massachusetts with a vision of mentoring musicians to play from the heart. Ann values the social aspect of learning and the importance of developing the ability to truly listen.
She offers a custom path to achieving musical goals.
Conservatory Path
This is for the serious flutist who is passionate about music. Through the time tested French method, students will prepare to audition for competitive ensembles as well as entrance into Conservatory. Early start is recommended. Students and their parents are committed to daily practice, daily listening assignments, accomplishing weekly assignments, and purchasing appropriate instruments. Parents are dedicated to creating a musically rich environment by attending professional concerts, participating in performance class, attending summer festivals, etc. This path is the only one which is audition based.
Suzuki Path
Ann is a certified teacher of the Suzuki method. This is a Japanese method based on the philosophy of violinist Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. Flute is taught using the basic principles of language acquisition. This is a path for parents who are enthusiastic about their children’s musical development and are interested in being part of a community of like-minded families. Ages 4+
Serenade Path
This is for the flutist who is interested in skill building and developing their musical ability in a way that fits their interest level. Students are expected to practice daily, listen daily, and attend group classes to the best of their ability. They will develop the skill of performing by memory. It is Suzuki inspired but will also include working on school band/orchestra and community group music as well as preparing for school auditions such as “Districts.” Students will have opportunities that are community-centered such as performing in assisted living communities, Friends and Family recitals, and the Spring Recital. The goal of this path is to nurture a life-long love of music and to build confidence.
Andante Path
From the musical term meaning ‘walking pace.” This path affords adults a chance to hone their flute skills or learn as a pure beginner.
